A small Madrid practice built on one idea: advice without a sales agenda
Lopez Financial Consulting S.L. was founded in 2019 to give ordinary households the kind of clear, unhurried financial guidance that is usually reserved for private-banking clients.
Our story
Jose Andres Lopez spent ten years inside Spanish retail banking, first as an account advisor and later as a branch manager in Madrid. The job taught him how household finances really work — and also how often the "advice" clients received was shaped by monthly product targets rather than by what the client actually needed.
In 2019 he left to open an independent consulting practice on Calle de Serrano. The founding rule has not changed since day one: clients pay a transparent fee for time and expertise, and the practice earns nothing from the products, accounts or funds a client may choose afterwards. That single decision removes the conflict of interest that quietly distorts most financial guidance.
What began as a one-person office has grown into a small team that has guided more than 300 clients — young professionals building their first budget, families digging out of consumer debt, and couples in their fifties checking whether retirement is still on schedule. Six years on, the practice remains deliberately small, because personal finance is personal, and that is hard to do at scale.
What we stand for
Independence
Fee-only, always. We accept no commissions, referral fees or distribution agreements from banks, insurers or fund companies.
Clarity
Every session ends with a written summary in plain language. If a concept can't be explained simply, we keep working on it until it can.
Realism
We don't promise returns, shortcuts or transformations. We build plans that survive bad months, not just good intentions.
Our mission is straightforward: that every client leaves a session knowing something concrete they did not know when they walked in — about their own numbers, their options, or their next step.
The people you'll work with
Jose Andres Lopez
Founder & Principal Consultant
Former retail banking advisor and branch manager. Leads all investment education and retirement planning engagements, and personally reviews every client plan the practice produces.
Maria Fernandez
Client Advisor
Maria is the first person most new clients speak to. She runs budget planning and debt coaching sessions, prepares the written summaries after each meeting, and keeps follow-up schedules on track.
Daniel Ruiz
Planning Analyst
Daniel builds the numbers behind the advice: cash-flow models, debt repayment schedules and retirement projections. He also keeps the practice's educational material and blog articles factually current.
